Frontier Daze #33 1/3rd

 Dear Wairua,

It's been a busy month, hard out, between the Capsuleer festival and fleet fights and territorial disputes. You and my brother were out looting data sites, and I was jockeying about with the fleet (in various capacities). The Old Man Star (OMS) fight was epic. I started off in a EWAR frigate, that got smartbombed just a few minutes after we got on-grid, and I got podded by the same smartbombs (smart bombs, dumb pilot (me)). I ended up in my medclone back in Anckee.

 Now, I could have just cut my losses there, but.. I had a couple Caracal cruisers IN Old Man Star from our old pvp fleets. So, I gated back as fast as I could in a corvette, to get back into the fight. Once back in OMS, I got the first Caracal out and in formation with the fleet, and started adding long points to the faxes and other targets, while using the missiles on anything close. Of course, EVERYTHING was close, since the fleet decided on a brawl fit with autocannons on their Tempests.

After a couple faxes went down, and a few of their battleships, the enemy's smaller scrappers caught me, and carked the first Caracal. I got the pod out, reshipped to second Caracal that lasted the duration of the fight (or, at least our part in it). Eventually Titans dropped, and our dreads, faxes and subcaps all retreated while the biggies slugged it out a little longer. We made it out, good as gold, but lost a handful of battleships and logi ships in the process.

Strangest part of all that was we ended up fleeting with some local, regional ratbags we're normally keen as to be carking. All in all, quite the experience, and well worth the couple ships I lost and the time spent tiki touring to OMS.

Next day, back in Synditude, we needed to establish some boundaries with encroaching ratbags by carking their Astrahus and a couple Athanors. They failed to do any advanced diplo before blowing up a structure of ours there, so sauce for the gander was served.

With all that, I took a good hit to security status, and while not in negative territory yet, I have heaps of ratting to do to build up enough security tank for future fleet engagements. I did get the Gila up to the Island, so I'll start there, eh.
