Work Daze #37

 Dad,

I know it's been a while, but I've been literally cloaked for the last month, observing Amarr's bung science project in Turnur. As a High-Energy physics, post-doc scarfie, this is a cracker opportunity to do some field study. Hard to get more High-Energy than a star, so here I am in an exploration waka with probes, drones, missiles, and a good cloaking device.

The corona is a wild mess of flares and CMEs, and my instruments are recording data that will take years to decypher. I'm gathering my own, because if Amarr carks the star and makes a bung job of the whole thing, their data is going to vanish and all the scientists on the project biomassed. Of course they decided to pull this in Minmatar space, because if it were something they knew would be choice, they'd be doing it in Domain for the Emperor to squiz. As the ancient mathematician Malcom once noted: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

Most of the punters in the system are saying we'll get attached to Pochven, some hoping this will turn into another Thera, others citing Seyllin and Caroline's Star. Lots of theories, but I'm just here to gather data. I've even spent some time on Turnur I, with the indigenous, and have listened to their mad preacher. I wonder if the people that totally dismiss either the immaterial or the material, are missing out on the grander schema of the universe. Gods, tachyons, all the things we theorize but don't have the instrumentation to prove, nonetheless shape our existence.

Several enterprising alliances are planting Fortizars, other, counter-enterprising alliances (huge fleets of battleships and marauders) are carking these and trying to anchor their own. Lots of smaller fights going on, in ships more hazardous than mine, as brigands assault the casual punters here to squiz at the star. Some pilots are going to orbit at ground zero, I've docked up at the Boundless Creation station at Turnur III, just in case, but left data recorders in-space at Turnur I and Turnur II, on the off chance they can survive and record more data during the event.

I may not have cell service for a bit, depending on what happens, but if the worst happens, at least I have a clone. Gabi and Lumi are well. I'll drop you a line when next I can.

Yours,

Wai
