Frontier Daze #9

 Dad,

Slow weekend; I joined a fleet for some some dag fun, arrived on grid with my Hound just after our fleet carked a freighter, and before a spontaneous fight fleet from Hobos showed up. We covered for our own freighter looting to one we carked, then extracted before the losses started mounting. I got long-distance webbed while yeeting torpedoes, so warped out before I got targeted by more damaging intentions.

This was, apparently, a minor diplomatic incident, as the eggs in the freighter had us set to blue, and presumed that we had them as blue. It may have been good as gold a good while back, but they had joined another alliance, and that reset their standings with our alliance. There was some salt in chat and in the diplo channels later.

Did a Blops jump a little later, still in the Hound, watched a structure get reinforced while leadership decided to not take the bait for a big, losing fight. However, as we were getting ready to jump back out, a neut appeared on-grid with us. FC was repeating an order to lock him up, so I did, and then started firing. I mean, what else are you supposed to do when you lock someone up, but point and shoot? We were just outside a station. you can tell where this is going.

Anyway, lots to learn still. Especially about engaging some egg on a gate or station, and getting pounded by the guns. Hound got vapourised, because I'm an idiot. After that, I self-podded to get back to Syndicate, and spent the rest of the weekend drinking lagers with Gabi and Lumi, watching the Intaki Interdictors match.

Gabi started painting this after your last visit, sketching you quick as you were giving the hangar a squiz. I think captures that "where should I be right now" feeling you tend to exude. I've started feeling that too, to conflict between where I am at the moment, and that nagging urge to be somewhere else. Maybe we all need a break from needing to be somewhere else?

Yours,

Wai
