School Daze #31
Dear Wairua,
It was sweet as to see you and your new bird this weekend. Thanks for the delivery as well; the mech parts will be useful for making fuel blocks, and the salvage went right back into some of the rigs in your new cruiser. Your uncle fitted that EM resistance rig to help plug the resistance hole, but you're going to want to run an EM shield hardener if you're going to be in regular beef with drones.
Nice choice in expanding your planetary production spread; balancing utility with profitability is tough, and as you'll find out, today's noble metals hotspot is next month's bung desert. You'll be shifting your extractor heads on occasion, just balance the cost of shifting versus the slow decay of material income, and she'll be right. Sometimes you won't find everything you want, right where you want it. Factor in a balance of materials with how much time you want to spend massaging it. Oh, and don't set up a plant in Ahbazon just to say you're doing it, eh? Any ship big enough to be helpful is going to get carked by a gate-camping ratbag in a Gnosis or a flock of Catalysts, and any ship small enough to slip those guys won't hold enough to make the risk worth it.
That's beaut that you've got some lab access now, even if it's not working with the koroua you're hoping to charm. Knuckle under on the studies and other yakka as needed, and you'll be good as gold. I know it's a long grind to get the upper-level lab access, but you're already most of the way there. The next step is an expensive one, and one we really need to think long and hard on: research at multiple labs. Right now, the economics of the administrative costs versus the potential gains of your research are pretty scrotty. ISK isn't everything, but pretty close to it. Make good choices on the type of research, and it might come out alright.
No Worries,
Dad
